Among the accreditation standards, AACSB evaluates the efforts made by schools to ensure the success of their learners through degree programs and other learning experiences.
The Assurance of Learning (AoL) approach is thus valued, since it includes all the measures deployed by the school to ensure that its programs transmit knowledge and skills to students, and prepare them for lasting professional success.
AACSB asks the school to produce a Table 5.1 showing well-documented AOL processes, including direct and indirect measures, to ensure the quality of all degree programs, considered to be within the scope of accreditation.
The results of the school’s AOL work should enable continuous improvement of programs and processes.
A 5.1 report, entitled Assessment Plan and Results for Most Recently Completed Accreditation Cycle by Degree Program, is therefore mandatory for AACSB accreditation.
This report can be completed and downloaded via the AOL module on ACADEM.
Its format is directly inspired by the model proposed by the AACSB in July 2020:

Performance target: what percentage of students must achieve this competency in the selected year?
How assessed: how is student performance assessed? Ex: oral presentation, dissertation, standard test …
Where assessed: in which module/course is the skill assessed?
Ex: module number, online supervision, internship …
When assessed: when did the assessment take place?
Ex : annually in final year, first semester, …
Results: Actual percentage of students who validate the competency for the selected year.
Curricular Improvments (Date changes were made): what changes were made to improve the result, and when?
ℹ️AACSB recognizes two types of indirect measures: those linked to the assessment of specific competency objectives within a degree program, and those that are more general and not linked to competency objectives.
However, only measures linked to the assessment of competency objectives are relevant to characterize an improvement.
