Add institutional axes to Intellectual Contributions – (e.g. SDGs)

By adding institutional axes to ACADEM, institutions can determine their participation in one or more major objective(s), such as the SDGs (Substainable Development Goals), diversity, digital development, etc.

The SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) is regularly cited as a reference: it contains 17 objectives identified by the United Nations for the millennium, which are likely to reduce the difficulties of populations and lead populations and the planet towards greater peace and prosperity.

By configuring the solution, it is possible to identify on ACADEM whether publications/research work are helping to reduce the difficulties highlighted by the UN with these 17 goals.
The institution thus proves that it is participating in this global challenge, through the activities of its teaching staff, and this commitment can be valued as part of its accreditation.

Creation of an Institutionnal axis type

The TYPEAXIS referential table can be used to define large families or type of institutional axes.
From Data > Referential Data > Referential Table > Search for the TYPEAXIS table
Click on the blue button +Add at the bottom of the screen to add a new type of Institutional axis.

Example : SDG (Substainable Development Goal)

ℹ️The keyword entered in the Text associated value 1 (VA1) field has a specific impact in the reports:
SIA (Social Impact) is taken into account in the AACSB 9 and 8.1 report – Part D.a a and D.a
IFC (Impact on Theory and practice) is taken into account in report 8.1 – Part D.a

Defining Institutional axes

There are several institutional axes for one type of institutional axis. They can be added from the ACADEM screen, or by importing an AXIS data table.

From the menu Data > Institution > Institution: Axis tab

  • Determine a unique code for the axis
  • Link the axis to an axis type: this data is entered in the TYPEAXIS table.
  • Enter a label in the main language, as well as in English (if it isn’t the main language)
  • It is possible to enter a start and end date for the institutional axis in order to reflect the evolution of the institution’s missions (axes).

Axes entered from the screen are added to the AXIS table, which can be exported from ACADEM data.

From the menu Data > Import > Data > Group: export > Find the AXIS table in the list to export it.

This table is used to enter the different axes that exist for an institutional axis type.

For the SDG axes, for example, 17 types have been defined by the UN: No poverty, Zero hunger, Good health and well-being, Quality education, Gender equality, Clean water and sanitation, Affordable and clean energy, Decent work and economic growth, Industry, innovation and infrastructure, Reduced inequalities, Sustainable cities and communities, Responsible consumption and production, Climate action, Life below water, Life on land, Peace, justice and strong institutions, Partnerships for the goals.

How to fill in the AXIS table ?
  • AX_uniquecode: enter a unique code for the institutional axis (for example SDG01, SDG02 …)
  • AX_lib1: enter the label of the axis in the main language (for example: No poverty, Zero hunger …)
  • AX_lib2: enter the title of the axis in the secondary language (for example: Pas de pauvreté, faim zéro …)
  • AX_typeaxis: enter the type of axis corresponding to the TYPEAXIS referential table

These 17 axes added to the AXIS table can be associated with the teachers’ Intellectual Contributions.

Addition of an Institutional axis on an Intellectual Contribution

An institutional axis can be added to an Intellectual Contribution once it has been registered in ACADEM.

In the edition window of the Intellectual Contribution > tab Others > Institutional Axis.

The Contribution’s Institutional axis can be selected from the axes in the AXIS table.

Depending on the axes added to the Contribution, it will appear in part D (a or aa) of report 8.1 (or 9).

This table is used to add an institutional axis to one or more existing contributions in ACADEM.

How to fill in the CTRAXIS table ?
  • CTRAX_codunic: Create a unique code for each publication (for example, associate the unique code of the Contribution according to the CONTRIB table (CO-1) and the SDG value of the axis (003): the unique code will be CO-1003).
  • CTRAX_axis: Use the SDG value from the AXIS table to associate with the publication
  • CTRAX_ctr : Add the unique code of the contribution according to the CONTRIB table
