This report provides a statistical analysis of teaching staff at a given date: by gender, by origin, by time worked for the institution and by AACSB qualification.
ℹ️The data tables used for this report are: FACULTY, FACHISTODETAILS, TYPEDEGREE, FACDEG, INSTITUTION or CAMPUS, SCOREMODAL and SCOREELEMENT.

From the menu Reports > Accreditations > AACSB 2020 > AACSB SCDS
1/ Choose the data presentation level:
- At institution level: a single table will take all the data for the institution
- Academic department level: one table will be generated for each academic department
- Campus level: one table will be generated for each campus
2/ Select parameters
- The type of faculty members included in the report
- The academic department(s)
- Define a census date: the date on which the data is taken into account in the report
- Enter a minimum percentage at which the faculty is considered to be working full-time
- Enter a minimum number of hours of activity required for a faculty to appear in the report
- By ticking the Audit Trail box, an additional section is added to the report, with details of the data taken into account in the report tables.
3/ Choose the type of file (PDF or Excel) and, if necessary, change the name of the file to be downloaded.
The report can be downloaded directly from the browser, or sent to the user’s inbox to be downloaded later.
Report composition
Top of the report
- Report download date
- Census date: date on which the data is taken into account
- School Year: academic year (depends on the census date selected).
- Level: institution, academic department or campus
- Faculty types: types of faculty members taken into account in the report (e.g. temporary, permanent, etc.)
- Academic department concerned by the report
- Minimum percentage of full-time activity: minimum percentage of time devoted to the assignment to be considered full-time.
Full-time by tenure status and gender
ℹ️Data tables used are FACULTY and FACHISTODETAILS.
The FACULTY table is used to qualify the faculty gender, as well as the time spent working at the institution (or campus).
The FACHISTODETAILS table is used to check the faculty’s status and working time on the census date selected for the report.
Total full-time :
The faculty’s gender is entered in the FAC_sex field of the FACULTY table.
The other values are taken from the FACHISTODETAILS table on the reference date. The teachers taken into account are therefore :
- Active faculty members: the value indicated is ‘FAC_active’ on the report date.
- Faculty members who work full-time for the institution (or campus): on thecensus date, the value entered in the FAC_timeComp (or FAC_time) column is > or = the Full time minimum percentage of activity entered for the report.
ℹ️ The FAC_time and FAC_timecomp values indicate the time dedicated to the mission for the institution. AACSB gives priority to the FAC_timecomp value, and considers the FAC_time value if the other is missing. Depending on how ACADEM is set up, it is possible to define the order of priority between FAC_time and FAC_timecomp, in order to establish the same prioritisation as the AACSB.
- Faculty members who belong to the type of faculty member taken into account for the report: column FAC_type on the date of the report (affiliated, part-time, etc.).
Total number of full-time faculty members with research doctoral degrees
A selection criterion is added: among full-time faculty members, those with a research doctoral degree at the census date are taken into account.
ℹ️On uses the referential tables TYPEDEGREE and DEGREE, and the table FACDEG (which lists all the faculty member’s qualifications).
We consider active faculty members ➕ by gender ➕ full-time ➕ who correspond to the type of faculty taken into account for the report ➕ who have a research doctoral degree.
Here are the conditions for counting graduate teachers:
- In the TYPEDEGREE table, the value VTAB_vn=1 indicates a degree level equivalent to a doctorate.
- The faculty must have obtained a doctorate-level degree.
In the FACDEG table, the value entered in the FDEG_degtype=1 field and in the FDEG_obtained = true field.
- The degree must have been obtained before the census date
Census date must be > the date on which the degree was obtained in FDEG_year
⚠️The doctorate must be considered as a research degree: the type of degree entered in the FACDEGREE table has a RESEARCH value in the VTAB_va2 field of the DEGREE table 👁️
Full-time faculty demographics by country/territory of origin or birthplace
This table is used to assess the number of faculty members who come from the country of the institution (or campus), compared with those who come from other countries. In this way, we can assess the mix of faculty members origins.
ℹ️ The tables used are FACULTY and INSTITUTION (or CAMPUS)
Total – Host Country/Territory
The country of origin (place of birth) is the same as the country of the institution :
We consider active faculty members ➕ by gender ➕ full-time ➕ who correspond to the type of faculty taken into account for the report ➕ who originate from the country of the institution.
- FAC_cnaiscountry (or FAC_natio1 if the cnaiscountry field is empty) is the same value as INST_country in the INSTITUTION table
Total – Other country/ territory or origin of birthplace
The country of origin (place of birth) is not the same as the country of the institution:

- FAC_cnaiscountry (or FAC_natio1 if the cnaiscountry field is empty) is not the same value as INST_country in the INSTITUTION table
⚠️ If the report has been downloaded at campus level, we look at the FAC_cnaiscountry table in relation to CAMP_country in the CAMPUS table.
Part-time faculty
ℹ️ Data tables used are the FACULTY and FACHISTODETAILS tables
We consider active faculty members ➕ by gender ➕ which correspond to the type of faculty taken into account for the report ➕ who work part-time or FTE (Full Time Equivalent) at the census date.
Part-time faculty other than graduate teaching assistants
- On the census date, the value entered in the FAC_timeComp or FAC_time column (depending on the ACADEM settings) is strictly lower than the percentage entered in the Full time minimum percentage of activity field.
- On the census date, the FAC_gta field must be FALSE
Calculation of FTE (full-time equivalents) = percentage of working time / 100
Graduate teaching assistants who are teachers of record
- On the census date, the value entered in the FAC_timeComp or FAC_time column (depending on the ACADEM settings) is strictly lower than the percentage entered in the Full time minimum percentage of activity field.
- On the census date, the FAC_gta field is TRUE, AND FHIST_value=1
Calculation of FTE (full-time equivalents) = percentage of working time / 100
Total Full time + Part Time faculty
- Total of teachers in the academic year selected for the report
- Total of teachers for the previous academic year
- Total of FTE teachers for the year of the report
- Total of FTE teachers in previous year

FAC_timecomp or FAC_time (depending on the setting) must not be NULL
Total number of participating faculty members with doctoral degrees

We consider active faculty members ➕ by gender ➕ that correspond to the type of faculty taken into account for the report ➕ that have Supporting status in their AACSB qualification.
- On the census date, the value entered for FAC_ccataascb is FHIST_value=S
FAC_timecomp or FAC_time (depending on the settings) must not be NULL.
Total number of supporting faculty members with doctoral degrees
- On the census date, the value entered for FAC_ccataascb is FHIST_value=S
FAC_timecomp or FAC_time (depending on the configuration) must not be NULL - On the census date, the faculty member has at least obtained a doctorate: the doctorate value is VTAB_vn=1 in TYPEDEGREE, and the value FDEG_obtained=1 is found in the FACDEG table.
The degree was obtained on a date prior to the census date.
Faculty counts by qualification types

Definitions of faculty qualifications
